The 2017 Christmas ornament was inspired by 8-year-old survivor Hector I. Ayala, Jr., and twelve-year-old survivor Kayleigh Sikes.  Hector is the surviving son of Montgomery County (MD) Police Officer Hector I. Ayala, EOW 4/4/2010. He lost his father when he was only one year old.  When asked about his inspiration for the ornament, he said “what inspired me is my love to draw. I was also inspired because I miss my ‘papi’ and how much I love C.O.P.S. Kids Camp.”  Kayleigh Sikes, is the surviving daughter of Richmond County (GA) Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Sikes, EOW 3/21/2007.  She lost her father when she was two years old.  For Kayleigh, her inspiration came from this year’s camp motto “where strangers become friends and friends become family."

Since this annual mailing is the only yearly request that National C.O.P.S. makes of its membership to “give back” financially, we hope you will consider donating $100 to receive an ornament.  It provides a space for engraving your officer’s name and EOW so it can become a “keepsake” that is included on your tree every Christmas.  You have a choice of having the ornament placed on the Christmas tree at the National Office and then mailed to you after the holidays, or if the ornament is purchased by December 8, 2017, the ornament can be mailed directly to you before Christmas.  Please carefully print your officer’s name and EOW for the engraving.

Your support of C.O.P.S. through the purchase of this ornament is a testament that you believe in our mission of rebuilding shattered lives and that you will help us continue to help survivors from the past, present, and future.  May your holidays be filled with warm wonderful memories of your fallen officer and may you find peace and comfort knowing that C.O.P.S. will always be there to support you and your family whenever you need us.
