Kids Camp

July 14 - 19, 2025

Salvation Army Wonderland Camp & Conference Center - Salem, WI

Registration Deadline: June 14, 2025

C.O.P.S. Kids Camp is planned for surviving children (6-14 years of age) and their parent or legal guardian of law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty, as determined by C.O.P.S. criteria.  Children MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to attend.

Testimonial from a 2024 Surviving Spouse attending Kids Camp:

“I choose to attend Kids Camp yearly for my daughters. I didn’t know they would enjoy it so much. I didn’t know I would need camp. My girls have peers they keep in contact with throughout the year. I leave with new connections and support… It is the one place, besides home, where everyone gets what it is to live with the death of a parent/spouse. I leave with so much support, memories, and connections.”

What to Expect

C.O.P.S. Kids Camp invites families to step away from the hustle of daily life and connect in a fun environment. For young children suffering the loss of a parent, finding a safe space to express their feelings and relate to your children can be challenging. This camp not only provides that safe environment but also offers a supportive atmosphere for parents and guardians to share their challenges and experiences of helping their child(ren) through their grief journey.

Child campers will engage in age-appropriate grief counseling sessions tailored to their unique needs, guided by licensed mental health professionals who will equip them with valuable tools for navigating their emotions at home. Adult campers join their group counseling sessions designed to equip them with tools to support themselves and their children.

Child campers will be grouped in cabins based on their age, with each cabin having a mentor(s) who is either a law enforcement officer or an adult child survivor. Adult campers will stay in nearby cabins, just a short walk from the children's cabins. Campers will also have the chance to sign up for exciting activities, all within a structured setting that promotes relationship building. By the end of the week, we aspire for every camper to walk away with a deeper sense of personal growth and a network of peers who truly understand their journey.
